Behold your best moments

Илья Брянский
Behold your best moments, lo, they're the worst
Surely you will know it, my friend.
That burduns a one who in living is versed,
Shall they haunt you, till very end.

They debunk any living, deprive it thereof,
Basking in a spur of the moment.
The venomous ones, but what is above
Not staying, merely ebbs and flows.

Wherever you go there they are
Yet nostalgic like falling a star?
Only espy, greet from afar
Do favour them, but insofar.

Behold your best moments, aye, they're the ghosts
Ye regard them no better than those.
Regardless of whence and whither they go
To the present they're sooner sworn foes.
