Mia the little princess
Decided to find a new shadow,
Put on her favorite dress
And set off to Shadowy Meadow.
She walked among bushes and trees
Looking around and singing
When suddenly under her knees
She noticed a little snake ringing.
"Hello, dear Snake! Oh, would you come along?
I'm going to Shadowy Meadow,
I'm starting a journey exciting and long
In search of a beautiful shadow".
And there they went, little Mia and Snake
And came to a glittery lake.
They stood by the blue water rim
And peering through mirrorlike surface
They saw a small golden fish swim
Wigwag to no meaningful purpose.
And said little Mia: "Hello, dear Fish!
We're going to Shadowy Meadow.
Come dear with us and in case if you wish
You'll get a new wonderful shadow!"
And there they went, Mia, Snake and the Fish
And suddenly they heard a squish.
They found themselves by a bog
And jumping from islet to islet
There was a green wandering frog
That looked in the mist like a giant.
"Hello, dear Frog!" Little Mia exclaimed,
"Let's go to the Shadowy Meadow".
She smiled to the froggy and briskly explained:
"Join us and you'll find a new shadow".
And there they went, Mia, Snake, Fish and Frog
Straight ahead through the clouding fog.
They walked full of cheer and joy
Till edge of the forest and there
They saw: on a stump with a toy
Was sitting a white little hare.
"Oh, cute little bunny, why are you so sad?
Let's go to the Shadowy Meadow!
I trust you'd feel better if only you had
A new little lovable shadow".
And there they went, Mia, Snake, Fish and Frog
And cute little Hare with her teddy dog
Until they all tripped on a log.
They all looked around and then
Saw near a tower of lumber
A bear constructing a den
For blissful and warm winter slumber.
"Oh, Bear, the winter is so far away!
Relax on the Shadowy Meadow!
This wonderful sunny and bright summer day
Is perfect to find a new shadow!"
And there they went, Mia, Snake, Fish and Frog
And cute little Hare with her teddy dog
Accompanied by orchid Bear,
And soon they smelled mountain air.
They climbed on a mountain top
They shivered as it became colder,
And noticed a little bird flop
Got trapped in a croocked broken alder.
"Oh poor little Bird, I can help, have no fear",
Said Mia and freed little swallow.
"To Shadowy Meadow we're going, my dear,
You'll have so much fun if you follow!"
And there they went, Mia, Snake, Fish and Frog
And cute little Hare with her teddy dog,
And big orchid Bear, and small whistling Bird.
They wandered, had fun and explored.
Thick brushwood was there at the end of the path
And peering through small leafless eyelet
They saw a miraculous meadow in front
All lit by most brilliant sunlight.
Enchanted they were by the picturesque scene:
On throne made of rainbows and flowers
Was sitting the gorgeous Shadowy Queen
With crown of fine gold set with marbles.
At this moment bushes flung open like gates,
A new sparkling pathlet appeared,
A little sun twinkle was showing the way
And they hurried forth full of cheer.
"My dear princess and her friends", said the Queen,
"Please welcome to Shadowy Meadow!
I'm happy to see you! Now you can begin
To choose the most wonderful shadow".
The friends looked around spellbound and saw
A myriad different shadows:
With tails and long ears, with beaks, wings and claws,
Some skinny, some covered with feathers;
The wanderers started to try shadows on
All bursting out laughing each second.
The snake took the bear's, frog - that of the fawn,
The fish dressed in shadow of leopard.
"I'm ready", announced the little princess
Out loud from the heart of the Meadow.
"I'm choosing the one in this wonderful dress!"
And hugged her own beautiful shadow.
