when i begged the ocean
to tell me your name
it laughed
"what's the use? they all sound the same"
when i begged the ocean
to show me your face
it grinned
"but the beauty is something that fades"
when i begged the ocean
to take me to you
its irritation and discontent grew
then i shouted at it
then i fell to my knees
but surely the ocean
wasn't convinced
