If truth be said, what can be stranger?
Indeed, a mystery unfurled:
a baby lying in a manger,
that came to save the whole world!
Oh, secret works of the divine!
Who would God ever comprehend,
who’d in such way Himself confine,
be able matter to transcend?
This is beyond imagination:
God manifested in the flesh!
It is good news for every nation,
for us to start new life afresh.
Christ came to change our fate -
not just a teacher and a friend -
our Saviour the most great,
who’d bring our troubles to the end.
To come to Earth, in all His meekness,
His Father’s wishes to obey
first as a baby, in all weakness,
and then, for us His life to lay.
Instead of death that was awaiting,
we can envisage now light
that is protecting, advocating
us, when we come to Father’s sight.
Beyond all our expectations,
He gave us hope well above
the best of human aspirations,
by showing His greatest love.
