The Book of books

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful
for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training
in righteousness, so that the servant of God
may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
                2 Timothy 3:16-17

From childhood I loved to read.
How many books can hook!
I feel, it is my inner need,-
what’s better than a book?

How many joys in books are found
that makes you all forget!
And when the story is profound,
it’s like a friend I met.

It opens an inner eye
to see another soul:
it makes me think, or laugh, or cry,
or try another role.

Good books are able to connect
with other souls’ world,
they often, making me reflect,
my soul gently mold.

The time spent I can’t regret
when dive into a plot,
and information I can get
expands my own thought.

But from all books I've ever read
one stands from them apart,
which so richly blessed and fed
with Truth my hungry heart.

It sharpens vision, giving me
the Great Creator’s views,
and His perspective I can see,
when through His book I cruise.

The Book contains everything –
God’s beauty and His grief,
and, able me to tears to bring,
it strengthens my belief.

Through centuries the Book withstood
all persecution, and
no one on earth, no ruler could
prevail at the end.

It is inspired by God’s breath
and opens to those,
who trust that Jesus conquered death
and from His grave arose.

It can instruct me and correct,
by showing my flaws:
if I sometimes them neglect,
it to repentance draws.

It’s like a mirror. And in it
I see how short I fall
from Jesus Christ, I must admit,
and miss sometimes His call.

The Book, my faith probing, plumbs
how deep I love my Lord.
Equipped by tests, my soul becomes
God’s servant by His Word.

The Bible’s Spirit stood the test
through centuries before,
and all who trust it will be blessed,
when they this Book explore.
