Unless the Lord convicts...

Inspired by McArthur sermon “The most hated doctrine”

Unless the Lord convicts me, who am I?
A sinner, and in sins I have to die.
But when the Lord Himself my soul elects,
He cleanses me within and resurrects.

Why for salvation God my soul leads?
Like filthy rags before Him are my deeds.
Whatever good I’ve done can’t outweigh
to save me from His wrath and my decay.

He is so pure, but my thoughts are stained,-
sin is in human cells from birth ingrained,
inherited from Adam and from Eve,
which causes the Creator God to grieve.

All sins offend Him – be it big or small,
but on the cross Christ had redeemed them all.
He reaches me – imperfect, stubborn, proud,
and makes me with His righteousness endowed.

Unless the Lord convicts me, I am dead,
and only His judgement is ahead,
but God accepts Christ’s blood as sacrifice,
for my redemption it’s the highest price.

To Jesus be all glory, every praise,
because His blood for all wrongdoing pays,
it saves me from sins and Hell’s torment,
and makes me cry before Him and repent.

My righteousness, alas, I cannot claim
but righteousness of Christ I can proclaim,
for He had died for my every sin,
so I could a new life in Him begin.

Oh, seek His mercy, every living thing!
For Jesus Christ is the Eternal King,
who’s able in compassion to forgive.
All, who believe, eternally could live.
