They say it's the sunset of Europe
And we are losing our identity,
Traditions and glory.
They say some particular kinds of appearance,
Like blond or red hair, have become increasingly rare.
They say the music has become primitive,
So is the cinema, and we have been
A cradle of culture since times immemorial.
What is identity, anyway?
Is it based on the genetic or historical preconditions?
Can someone become European all of a sudden?
The answer is in most cases culture can be acquired or mimicked,
However, 'the spirit of Old Europe', as the scholars label it,
Cannot be really faked.
Some people prefer to be clear about cultural boundaries,
The others enjoy 'melting pots',
However from both points of view good taste is vital.
