and then

Людмила Прасад
My morning slump unbridled,
I set to sulk and pout.
And then the windows brightened.
And then the sun came out.

Resentful and unsteady,
I stomped around and glared.
And then my tea was ready
And so the world was spared.

I went about my business.
I looked the part, no doubt.
And then I felt abysmal
And promptly petered out.

I tossed and turned. I drifted.
I cared and didn't care.
And then the anguish lifted
And sleep infused the air.

And then the windows brightened.
And then the sun came out.
My morning slump unbridled,
I set to sulk and pout.

I stomped around and glared,
Resentful and unsteady.
And then the world was spared:
My tea was ready.
