Well, I looked in the American Heritage Dictionary. To await means to wait for, therefore, if you write await for, it reads wait for for... A little awkward, isn't it? :)))

I think these are eihter misprints or flat out errors... Nobody's perfect... :))) Dictionary definition is the basis for grammar, not the press...

I agree when it come to blogs by non-native speakers, but I can't ignore the living language used by native speakers. Unfortunately not all disctionaries capture connotations (emotional load) of some expressions. "awaiting for" has more anxiety to it.

Dear Dina, you wouldn't believe hom many mistakes native speakers make in the US, just like in Russia... Illiteracy of various levels is widespread everywhere in the world. Trust me, I have lived and worked in the US for almost 20 years, "await for" sounds awful... It is up to you wheter to believe me or not, though! :)) Good luck!
