The Grove Has Stopped Speaking
The golden grove has done with merry talking
Of birches carefree breezy quiet tongue,
And cranes that fly by with a grievous squawking
Already do not long for anyone.
Who's to be longed for?! - everyone’s a vagrant:
He comes back home still leaves home soon.
For all the gone pine only meadows fragrant
And in the skies the shining widely moon.
I stand alone amid the barren valley,
The wind is carrying the cranes aside,
I think about my young days killed gaily
Still there is no regretting in my mind.
I don’t regret the years spent out vainly,
The flowers of the soul that have been gone.
A rowan-tree’s bonfire has to dally -
It is not able to warm up anyone.
There will not be for grass a life post-mortem
But pleasing sounds of returned birds;
The trees are shedding down their leaves in autumn -
The same way I am dropping mournful words;
And if the time, that makes from dust a briquette,
Rake them together in a useless lump
Then let you say: It is a golden thicket
Has done with speaking a harmonious tongue.
