Как хорошо без женщин, и без фраз,
Без горьких слов и сладких поцалуев,
Без этих милых, слишком честных глаз,

How good it is: no feminine disguise,
No bitter words, no sweetest osculations,
No, to a fault, unduly honest eyes,
That lie to you in jealous oscillations!
Как хорошо без театральных сцен,
Без длинных «благородных» объяснений,
Без этих истерических измен,
Без этих запоздалых сожалений.
How good it feels: just no dramatic scenes,
No out of measure "noble" explanations,
No traitor's anger: "Tell me where you've been",
And no - hence that - belated deplorations.
И как смешна нелепая игра,
Где проигрыш — велик, а выигрыш — ничтожен,
Когда партнеры ваши — шулера,
А выход из игры уж невозможен.
And how grotesque is that absurdist game,
Where losses are good-sized, and gains are hardly there,
And when your partners swindle all the same,
And you are bound to live with this night mare.
